I wrote this yesterday and set it to go live today.
The reason for this?
Business can be stressful, all-encompassing, exciting, frustrating, awesome.
You might have even felt all these emotions in the same day!
I sure have.
But the thing with business is…. it’s just business.
This challenge and building this business is a part of my life.
It isn’t my life.
And I think it’s important to remember that.
I have a family, wife, a baby on the way, spiritual ambitions, physical goals, and other commitments. If my business takes 100% precedent, the rest of my life with suffer.
And I’m not willing to sacrifice that.
I’m not sure when it happened, but years ago I made a commitment to never work on Sunday. Even when I had a major assignment due in college, I would choose to wake up reeeeally early the next morning rather than do it on Sunday.
It may seem like a small thing, but the older I get I realize that the small things that I do or don’t do on a regular basis are really the big things.
I’m sure you’ve noticed this in your own life.
A few months not eating healthy leaves you feeling bloated and tired all the time.
A few too many selfish arguments with your wife leaves you in a broken relationship.
And on the flip side, reading a few pages of a motivational book can energize you.
Lifting weights for a few minutes a day can strengthen you physically and mentally.
Taking a few minutes a day to show gratitude can increase your compassion, productivity, and the way you treat others.
Get the picture?
So I spend Sundays with my family, going to church, reflecting on the past week and making goals to have an even better week. I spend them writing in my journal, relaxing, and reading.
Maybe you do something similar. Maybe not.
The key here is to follow your principles and guard your priorities like you would with 10,000,000 dollars cash. You wouldn’t risk losing them by being flippant or irresponsible.
And your loved ones are worth much more than $10,00,000.
What are some things you like to do on Sunday? Leave an answer in the comments, I read every one! Just not on Sunday 🙂
